Alec Joseph Becker is a British Columbian artist, born and educated in Vancouver and trained at the Vancouver School of Art (now known as the Emily Carr School of Art). Alec attended the Vancouver School of Art between 1950 and 1953, where he studied with and under some of the best artists in Canada, notably Jack Shadbolt, Don Jarvis, Gordon Smith, Fred Amess, Peter Aspell and well known war artist Orville Fisher. In Mexico, Alec studied under Jose Gutierez. In 1954, he painted a mural in Mexico City under his direction.
