Steel was born in Cologne, Germany. He studied free painting at the Academy for Art and Design of Cologne from 1973 - 1980. During the course of his artistic growth, an intensive blend of personal obsessions and inclinations developed and transformed into an exiting, stimulating and unique form of representation, into erotic art which inevitably make the spectator fall under Steel's spell.
