Alphonse Mucha   1860 - 1939

 



Mucha, a Czech painter, is best known for his beautiful, wholesome images of women. He worked in Vienna until 1887, then went to Paris, where he became famous in 1894 as an art nouveau artist due to a poster 'Gismonda' he designed for Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha traveled extensively. He settled in Prague in 1922.
